Library Membership

What are the benefits of a library membership?

We offer access to a wide range of resources, physical and digital, plus free access to PCs, Wi-fi and printing, a safe space for social interaction, lifelong learning, and diverse cultural experiences.

Collections and Resources

What collections do you offer?

We have:

  • adult, teenage and junior fiction and non-fiction (also in languages other than English)
  • eResources including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers
  • DVDs, CDs and audiobooks
  • picture books
  • large print books
  • adult and junior literacy resources
  • English language learning resources

Do you have a library app?

Yes we do. The Monash Library app allows you to search for, reserve and borrow items.

Do you have eBooks and eAudiobooks?

Yes we offer BorrowBox eBooks and eAudiobooks, Libby (from Overdrive) eAudiobooks and uLibrary eAudiobooks.

 

 

Programs and Events

What programs and events do you offer?

We host a range of events throughout the year including Wordfest and we also run programs such as Book Clubs, and Tech Help.

For children, we offer Storytime, Babytime and School Holiday Programs.  

 

 

Facilities

What are your opening hours?

All branches (except Mulgrave) open at 10am. Clayton, Mount Waverley, Oakleigh and Wheelers Hill Libraries will close at 8.30pm each weeknight, and Glen Waverley Library will close at 9pm each weeknight.

How do I book a study room?

You can book a study room on the day online, by phone or in person.  Bookings are for two hours max. per day and are not available at all branches.

Is wi-fi free and how do I access it?

Yes our wi-fi is free. You will need to be a library member to access it, you can join online or in person at your nearest branch.

How do I book a public PC?

You can book a public PC online by phone or in person up to a week in advance. Bookings are available for a one hour session. This session can be extended for a further hour if no one else has booked.

Can I eat and drink in the library?

Yes you can eat cold food and drink in the library (no hot food). At the public PCs, eating is not allowed and any drinks consumed must have a lid.

What do I do if I lose my library card?

Please phone any of our branches to place a stop on your card. At your next visit, you will need to bring identification and we will issue a new library card. There is a replacement card fee of $0.50.
Please note: if you have used any of our eResources or used the printing facilities in the past, please tell the staff member.

Library Services

Can you help with study or research?

Yes, our librarians will be happy to direct you to the appropriate resources (time permitting).

Can you recommend a book?

Yes we can, either in person or on our website with the Book Match service.

Do you take donations?

We do not accept donations of books, magazines, DVDs or CDs.
