Chinese Storytime (in Mandarin) at Mount Waverley.

In 2014 the Mount Waverley Chinese storytimes will be on the third Thursday of the month at 10.30am except for school holidays. Not run in school holidays. Sessions run for 45 minutes. No booking required.

Blast Off! 2014

A fun, free monthly story and craft activity for primary school children aged 5-12. Three branches will host Blast Off ! at 4 pm on a selected day in 2014. Dates for 2014 as below.

WordFest 2014 Launch

WordFest 2014 welcomes John Safran! Well known for his conversations with Father Bob, his documentary series John Safran vs God, and more recently his book Murder in Mississippi, John Safran will talk about his book and how language is used to influence or protect ideas and truth.

The WordFest Launch includes drinks and nibbles from 6.30pm and is aimed at a mature audience. The Wordfest 2014 Program includes author talks, workshops and presentations. The Monash Short Story Competition 2014 will also be launched.

The Monash Writers Group meeets on the third Wednesday of each month at Wheelers Hill Library from 6.00pm-8.00pm.

During these meetings the library supports local writers and helps them reach their creative goals by facilitating and providing peer and professional guidance through discussion, activities and programs.

This is an annual event which occurs during our Wordfest. There are 3 categories (12-14 years; 15-17 years; and adult. Prizes of up to $500 are awarded each year.

Bring along your knitting and meet with fellow enthusiasts. Anyone can join in, regardless of level of skill and experience.

Practise your English at our weekly Conversation Circles with the help of experienced volunteers. It's also a great opportunity to meet other people from your local area. Come in for a chat. The sessions begin from February 2014.

Book Clubs 2014

Monash Public Library Service proudly supports local book clubs, free of charge, by supplying sets of ten titles up to 12 times each year to each club.

The library selects new titles each year to ensure that book clubs have fresh, popular and engaging titles to discuss each month.

Technology Training

The classes for the first semester of The Seniors Computer Program for 2014 are full now. Bookings will open in early July 2014 for classes starting in August through September 2014.

These are free classes for seniors and offer an opportunity for people with little or no computer skills to learn in a comfortable environment. (English language skills assumed but there are some classes presented in Chinese and some in Greek.)
